New students choosing Core Class for 10-14 yr olds during the summer months at Zoll Studio have an opportunity to explore methods of realistic drawing. Students get an introduction to basic measuring techniques, and explore value, shadow shapes, contours, and measuring. All students work at their own level and ability. Students work in pencil, charcoal, pastel and possibly watercolor. Older students often try oil painting if time allows.

Students already part of the Zoll Studio Core Class during the regular school year continue to build upon the skills that they already developed but in a slightly more relaxed summer manner. Flexibility is offered to regular full time students. They are encouraged to explore techniques not available to them during the regular school year even if they have not yet met certain levels of training.
